Responsibilities

  • Assists the general public and provides information regarding security and safety issues, as well as general information.
  • Patrols Wilds property during open and closed hours to ensure team member, guest, and animal safety. 
  • Assists guests who are lost or misdirected.
  • Patrols parking lots and directs traffic.
  • Attends to any team members or guests that are injured until medical personnel arrives using trained  EMT, CPR, ERT and AED Zoo practices.
  • Delivers deposits from the Wilds to a financial institution.
  • Patrols building and grounds in designated areas, locks doors, arms/unarms alarms and secures gates.
  • Maintains alertness to potentially abnormal conditions and responds appropriately.
  • Completes and maintains daily duty log, incident reports, worker’s compensation documents, first aid documents and any other required paperwork.
  • Assists all Wilds departments as needed.
  • Operates Wilds radio.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years if age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • EMT certified
  • Able to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. heat, rain, cold).
  • Must be able to balance multiple assignments successfully.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Must use and maintain all safety equipment designated for the position.
  • Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.
  • Independent decision making/problem solving ability.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
  • Able to provide excellent guest service and uphold the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all Wilds/Zoo team members.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record is a must.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
