Enjoy camping in the great outdoors?  How about camping in the midst of Rhinos, Giraffes, and Zebras?  As one of our Wildnights at The Outpost staff, you will camp in the middle of our pasture areas and act as the concierge to families groups of 6-10 individuals spending the night with us.   In the morning, you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise as you help our guests pack up their belongings and exit our pasture areas. 


  • Meet guests upon arrival and debrief before going into pasture for overnight camping experience.
  • Greet and inform guest of pertinent information and assist with guest requests.
  • Set up camping area prior to guest arrival and pack coolers for food.
  • Work overnight shift sleeping in tent or converted outdoor shelter.
  • Learn and present wildlife and natural resource programs.
  • Maintain supplies and amenities.
  • Assist guests with luggage.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Act as a representative of the Wilds including appropriate dress, language and attitude.
  • Strive to further the mission of the organization and support the Wilds, Zoo, Zoombezi Bay and Safari Golf Club.
  • Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather condition, guest attendance and department needs.


  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Experience with outdoor, primitive camping a plus!
  • Knowledge of natural ecosystems, native wildlife and conservation issues.
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Public speaking ability required.
  • Ability to make responsible decisions.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing circumstances in a busy work place.
  • Public service experience.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work 24 hour shifts.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service and uphold the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all Wilds/Zoo team members.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
  • Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record is a must.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
