During the height of the season there is never a dull moment in the cash room. From building banks, checking cashiers in/out, counting money and data entry there is always something to do. If you have a great attention to detail and love numbers, then the cash room might be the position for you.


  • Coordinates work flow to assure deadlines are met.
  • Provides training and work direction to seasonal Cash Assistants and Leads
  • Accounts for daily cash, credit, and sales on 4 different point of sale systems
  • Prepares starting banks and counts down closing banks for all Visitor Services areas.
  • Balances vault counts and prepares deposits daily.
  • Prepares daily reporting and forwards to appropriate departments.
  • Handles change requests.
  • Counts, rolls and wraps money.
  • Balances ledgers.
  • Prepares and verifies financial reports as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Recommends cash room procedure changes to supervisor
  • Being able to problem solve and handle situations as they arise when the supervisor is not available


  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check required.
  • Ability to perform basic math and understand basic accounting and cash handling requires
  • Computer proficient with strong data entry & 10 key skills required.
  • Able to work flexible schedule including weekends, late evenings, and holidays required 
  • Supervisor experience preferred
  • Able to be bonded.
  • Able to lift bank bags weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand &/or walk for an hour or more at a time.
  • Able to balance multiple assignments successfully. 
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing required
  • Able to provide excellent internal and external customer while upholding the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards required.
  • Ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner and without direct supervision required
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all Zoo team members and contacts regarding company business required.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols required.
  • Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space
  • Subject to BMV check.
  • Subject to Criminal Background check.
  • Strict adherence to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and follow-up treatment.
