Soar through the sky as you guide guests on an aerial adventure of The Wilds! As a zipline tour guide you are responsible for the safety and enjoyment of our many guest who choose to tour the wilds from the air. Gear up the guests, teach them the basics, and spend the day interacting and bonding with guests to help them connect with wildlife in this unique way.

Responsibilities

We train you!

  • Fits harnesses and helmets correctly and supervise the use of all personal safety equipment.
  • Sets up and conducts a course rescue takedown from any point on the course under the supervision and guidance of a Lead Guide, using the contents of a Rescue box/bag when necessary.
  • Responsible for overseeing the progress of an assigned participant group.
  • Conducts a complete daily inspection of all course components and of all course gear.
  • Leads a Participant Orientation Session and conduct a proper screening of course applicants.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of provided information and present engaging interpretation of Wilds conservation work while zipping our visitors through visitor and animal areas.
  • Act as a representative of the Wilds including dress, language and attitude.
  • Greet and inform guests of pertinent information including tour options and logistics.
  • Act as a liaison for groups once they arrive at the Wilds.
  • Assist in daily housekeeping/light grounds keep tasks, heavy lifting required.
  • Assist in gift shop, restaurant or shuttle when necessary.
  • Strive to further the mission of the organization and support the Wilds, Zoo, Zoombezi Bay and Safari Golf Club.
  • Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather condition, guest attendance and department needs.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience with presentations, public speaking, programming or other experience a plus.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to make responsible decisions.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing circumstances in a busy work place.
  • Public service experience.
  • Required to walk long distance with inclines assisting guests at destinations.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • CPR/First Aid training preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service and uphold the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all Wilds/Zoo team members.
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
  • Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record is a must.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
