Assists in the day-to-day operation of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (CZA’s) strategic partnership program, including the maintenance and expansion of a comprehensive corporate partnership initiative. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, an understanding of affinity marketing relationships and a customer service mindset.


  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with corporate partners to provide financial and promotional support to the CZA.
  • Works in conjunction with staff to communicate obligations and expectations of clients and staff to ensure proper servicing and fulfillment of partnerships.
  • Assists in identifying potential partners, prepares proposals, assists in presentations, prepares and implements documentation and contracts.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with internal constituents on behalf of corporate partners.
  • Serves as a resource for the Community Engagement Department regarding strategic partnership activation.
  • Coordinates the various components of the CZA’s corporate sponsorship strategy.
  • Works with the Coordinator, Partnership Activation to develop innovative concepts and ideas that deliver value to partners, and leads to partner activation.
  • Creates, maintains and adheres to communication and activation calendars and budgets to track sponsor objectives, marketing platforms, spending and activation efforts to ensure relationships are meeting both CZA and sponsor goals.
  • Provides leadership and work direction to seasonal team members and interns.
  • Adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Works with Coordinator with assigned asset elements across various partner contracts (I.e. writing social media copy, ordering experience team promo items/shirts, developing signage needs, etc.)
  • Maintains impressions records for partnership assets
  • Acts as secondary relationship manager for corporate partners
  • Builds annual recap and activation reports for assigned corporate partners
  • Manages, tracks and schedules hospitality requests and distribution for department
  • Works with relevant internal departments to plan Partnership events (I.e. Holiday Party)
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with internal constituents on behalf of corporate partners
  • Functions as a strong team member with other members of the Sales/Strategic Partnerships Departments by performing other duties as assigned including but not limited to other fundraising projects, programs and events as directed.
  • Constantly strives to further the mission of the organization and avidly supports the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay, Safari Golf Club and the Wilds.
  • Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • B.S. business administration, marketing, communication, a related field, or equivalent years of experience required.
  • One to two years successful experience in sponsorship, marketing, communication or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and a variety of software packages linked to professional communications and publications required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and personal information required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sometimes-stressful situations required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, frequent off-site meetings and overnight travel required.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands while maintaining excellent attention to detail required.
  • Ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner and without direct supervision required.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests and upholding the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all Zoo team members and contacts regarding company business required.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols required.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record required. 
  • Proof of negative TB screening prior to placement and annually thereafter required.
  • Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and follow-up treatment required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually required.
