Join The Wilds team as a server and impact the guest experience by accommodating our private meals provided for lodging guests.  Get to know guests and interact with them in an intimate small group setting as they visit our newly renovated Overlook Café for breakfast and dinner and enjoy good food and great views as part of their stay.  Morning and evening shifts available.

Responsibilities

  • To greet and provide all guests of the Wilds with prompt friendly service.
  • Act as primary wait staff for each breakfast and dinner shift for Nomad Ridge guests.
  • To execute accurate sales transactions allowing for accurate record keeping.
  • Encouraging our guests to “round up” for conservation fund on their sale, increasing the dollars available to support The Wilds program areas.
  • Assist with dining room set up and food preparation for each dining service.
  • Learn and follow ServSafe guidelines to provide a safe and sanitary food environment.
  • Maintain a clean work area, including restocking, inventory, and cleaning.
  • Learn about The Wilds and the species here to accurately answer guest questions.
  • Provide support to other Visitor Operations/Park Operations positions as needed.
  • Strive to further the mission of the organization and support the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.
  • Train and guide others as needed.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude with guests and co-workers.
  • Adhere to our Responsible Alcohol Policy.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the Food & Beverage Manager as well as the Kitchen Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Exceptional customer service ability required.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Positive, professional attitude.
  • Good math and keyboarding skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing circumstances in a busy workplace.
  • Ability to be trained in service standards set forth by the Food & Beverage team.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of all aspects of alcohol service.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of menu items and how they are prepared as well as knowledge of allergies that pertain to the menu ingredients.
  • Ability to help in all aspects of the Food & Beverage operation up to and including food prep, catering set up and service, quick service food sales, dishes, busing tables, sweeping/mopping all required.
  • Ability to work well with others as well as the Food & Beverage Manager and Coordinator.
  • Good decision-making skills with ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service and uphold the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all Columbus Zoo Family of Parks team members.
  • Possession of a valid state issued driver’s license and a good driving record is a must.
