As a member of our Zoo Guest Relations team, you have the opportunity to be one of the first or last impressions to millions of guests. Our team has a variety of responsibilities including parking booths, rentals, ticket sales, guest entry and exit as well as being an ambassador throughout Zoo grounds.
The Guest Relations team works inside and outside every day. It requires a lot of time spent on your feet. If you are friendly, outgoing, and a GREAT communicator, Guest Relations is the place for you!

Responsibilities

Guest Interaction:

  • Answer general questions from guests about park wayfinding, ticketing, and membership.
  • Assist guests with liability waivers and rental information.
  • Teach guests how to use Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs).
  • Provide information about ticket prices, packages, and rules related to purchases.

Ticketing & Membership:

  • Verify patron identity for memberships and will-call ticket pickups.
  • Scan tickets, memberships, and verify guest identity at various points (e.g., turnstiles, parking lanes).
  • Sell tickets to individuals or groups, ensuring proper rates and communication of rules.

Cash Handling & Transactions:

  • Handle cash and follow department procedures for proper cash management.
  • Provide change for cash transactions and process rental sales using a point-of-sale system.

Event Support:

  • Assist in covering various cash positions as needed.
  • Assist in parking lanes, verifying identities and collecting pre-paid parking vouchers.

Other Duties:

  • Set up and clean rental items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, helpful attitude towards all guests and staff.
  • Uphold safety and operational procedures at all times.

Qualifications

Location: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Age Requirement:
15 years or older
Schedule:
Flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Customer Service: Comfortable in a customer service role, with the ability to handle customer inquiries and issues effectively.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) System Knowledge: Comfortable working with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems such as Accesso or similar platforms, with the ability to navigate and process transactions efficiently.
  • Work Environment: Can handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Communication: Clear verbal, written, and email communication skills.
  • Guest Service Focus: Positive attitude with a commitment to excellent service and upholding guest service standards.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Must be available for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adherence to Policies: Must follow safety protocols, company policies (e.g., drug-free workplace), and standard operating procedures.
  • Mission Alignment: A commitment to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s mission of “Empowering People. Saving Wildlife.”
