The Seasonal Staffing Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Human Resources (HR) team at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, including Zoombezi Bay and The Wilds. This role involves assisting with recruitment, employee onboarding, administrative duties, event coordination, and more. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, a passion for supporting wildlife conservation, and exceptional guest service.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding Support:

  • Assist the HR team with various aspects of recruitment, including data entry, phone/email correspondence, and documentation
  • Help with the onboarding process for new hires and re-hires.

Event Participation & Coordination:

  • Attend community events, job fairs, orientations, and re-hire events, both internally and externally.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of employee-related events, including team building and recognition activities.

Administrative Support:

  • Perform administrative duties such as data entry, filing, copying, and correspondence.
  • Handle general office duties and assist with research projects as needed.

Customer Service & Community Engagement:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to applicants, team members, vendors, and guests.
  • Represent the organization’s mission and values in all interactions.

Sustainability & Mission Support:

  • Strive to further the mission of "Empowering People. Saving Wildlife." and actively support the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.
  • Implement sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information professionally.
  • Able to maintain high guest service standards in all situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively within a team.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid current driver’s license.
  • Subject to a criminal background check.
