Join our team and help create magical experiences for our guests! We’re looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals to perform as character ambassadors and assist with event production at the zoo. This is a seasonal role perfect for those who enjoy working in a fun, interactive environment.

 

Job Type: Seasonal

Age Requirement: 18 years or older
Schedule: Flexible (Weekends, Evenings, Holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Character Engagement: Act as a costume character ambassador at on-site and off-site events, engaging with guests in a fun and friendly manner.
  • Event Support: Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with a dynamic team to ensure the smooth operation of zoo events and promotions.
  • Public Interaction: Lead interactive games and activities that encourage crowd participation and promote zoo events.

Qualifications

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Social Competence: Demonstrates respect, adaptability, and emotional intelligence in all interactions.
    • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience: Previous experience in children's theater, costume character work, recreation, education, or similar fields is a plus but not required.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • This job may be physically demanding at times. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
    • Must be able to work in a full-body costume, including enduring heat and limited vision.
    • Must be between 5’0” and 5’8” in height and have a weight proportional to height to fit required costumes.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in all weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Guest Service:
    • Engaging and approachable demeanor, able to connect with guests, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Strong commitment to providing excellent guest service and upholding zoo standards.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Must be flexible with scheduling, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Additional Requirements:

  • Background checks (BMV, criminal, drug-free workplace policy) required.
  • Must have reliable transportation
