Join The Wilds team as a Seasonal Retail Team Member and help create memorable experiences for our guests! This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, enjoy engaging with guests, and are passionate about conservation.

Responsibilities

Guest Service & Sales

  • Provide friendly, prompt, and engaging service to all guests.
  • Accurately process sales transactions, ensuring proper record-keeping.
  • Encourage guests to round up their purchases to support conservation efforts.

Store Operations & Inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail area.
  • Restock merchandise and assist with inventory management.
  • Ensure brochure racks are filled and request additional brochures as needed.

Communication & Support

  • Answer guest questions about The Wilds and its conservation initiatives.
  • Provide support to other visitor operations and park operations departments as needed.

Mission & Teamwork

  • Strive to further the mission of The Wilds and support the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks, including The Wilds, Zoo, Zoombezi Bay, and Safari Golf Club.
  • Work collaboratively with all Wilds/Zoo team members to provide an excellent guest experience.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Comfortable in retail, customer service, or sales roles.

Skills & Abilities

  • Positive, professional attitude with strong guest service skills.
  • Good math, communication, and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a busy workplace.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.

Physical & Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays from May to October.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule based on weather conditions, guest attendance, and department needs.

Compliance & Safety

  • Positive attitude with a commitment to excellent service and upholding guest service standards.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
  • Subject to Drug-Free Workplace Policy, Criminal Background Check, and BMV Check.
