Join The Wilds as a Seasonal Overlook Nomad Server, providing exceptional dining experiences for our Nomad Ridge guests. This role is perfect for individuals with strong customer service skills who thrive in a fast-paced food and beverage environment.

Responsibilities

Guest Service & Dining Operations

  • Greet and provide prompt, friendly service to all Wilds guests.
  • Serve as the primary waitstaff for breakfast and dinner shifts at Nomad Ridge.
  • Execute accurate sales transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Encourage guests to round up for conservation, supporting The Wilds’ program areas.

Food & Beverage Support

  • Assist with dining room setup and food preparation for each dining service.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
  • Learn and follow ServSafe guidelines to ensure a safe and sanitary food environment.
  • Uphold Responsible Alcohol Policy standards.

Operations & Team Collaboration

  • Maintain a clean work area, including restocking, inventory management, and cleaning.
  • Assist in various aspects of Food & Beverage operations, including food prep, catering setup, quick service food sales, and dishwashing.
  • Communicate effectively with the Food & Beverage Manager and Kitchen Coordinator.
  • Train and guide other staff as needed.

Wilds Knowledge & Guest Interaction

  • Learn about The Wilds and its species to accurately answer guest questions.
  • Provide support to other Visitor Operations and Park Operations roles when needed.
  • Strive to further the mission of The Wilds and support the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Previous food service or waitstaff experience preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Positive, professional attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong math and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances in a fast-paced workplace.
  • Ability to learn and uphold service standards set by the Food & Beverage team.
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to excellent service and upholding guest service standards.
  • Strong decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compliance & Safety

  • Possession of a valid state-issued driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Subject to Drug-Free Workplace Policy, Criminal Background Check, and BMV Check.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
