Summer Camps 

 

Why do zebras have stripes? Does a mouse have a house? Guiding activities, leading walk, creating art, and classroom management are all part of life in the ZooKids classroom. The questions, songs, smiles, and FUN are non- stop! If helping our most pint- sized Zoo guests discover the wonder and awe of wildlife and wild places is your passion…a job within the ZooKids team could be a good fit for you.

Responsibilities

Position will assist full-time Education staff with the implementation of ZooKids programming for children ages 3 yrs old-kindergarten.  Job functions will include but are not limited to delivering programming and actively participating in activities and classroom management, responsible for the overall safety and well-being of preschool age children, and set-up and clean-up of program activities.  Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather condition, guest attendance and department needs.

 

Hours: 

June  – beginning of August 

8:00-5:00pm

*There could be the opportunity for hours to begin earlier in the spring. 

 

Classes run 9am-12pm & 1:30pm-4:30pm

 

*Fridays are half days (8:00-12:00)

*Two training days at the end of May

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BA/BS in education, natural sciences, or other related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching preschool aged children preferred.
  • Able to work well with young children.
  • Able to balance multiple assignments successfully.
  • Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, rain).
  • Able to work successfully in a team setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.
  • Able and willing to rotate time within and outside of assigned region.
  • Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).
  • Subject to Drug Free Workplace Policy.
  • Subject to BMV check.
  • Subject to Criminal Background check and fingerprinting.
