  The Camp Inclusion Specialist ensures that the Columbus Zoo Summer Camp program provides an exciting, engaging, and fun experience for all learners, while also supporting year round educators and seasonal staff with the integration and development of campers with special needs.    Camp begins Monday, June 6th and runs through Friday, August 6, 2022.  Camp Staff Training is Tuesday, May 31st - Friday, June 3rd.  The camp inclusion specialist positon will be on site from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.

  The Outstanding Wilds Learning/Kids Discovery Field Station (OWL/KDFS) Educator is responsible for daily activities at the KDFS and implementing the OWLs teen volunteer program at The Wilds. This position will help to train, schedule and mentor the teen volunteers who work with guests at locations throughout The Wilds, including the Kids Discovery Field Station. The Kids Discovery Field Station is a nature play area designed to encourage science exploration in our youngest visitors. The OWL/KDFS Educator will facilitate nature play activities in this space and perform daily maintenance of the area.   This position will begin on 4/23/2022 and end on 9/5/2022.

  The Coral Region Assistant is responsible for all aspects of daily care of the Florida Reef Tract coral collection at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, under the supervision of primary and head zookeepers. The corals are part of a science-based rescue program for at-risk Florida corals.   The hours for this position are expected to be up to 30 hours per week, with Sunday and Monday shifts required. Flexible scheduling is available throughout the rest of the week. This position is a grant funded position that will last up to 9 months.

Ensuring our guests have an engaging and safe experience visiting the animals of the Kangaroo Walkabout, Reptile Lab, Discovery Reef Touch Pool, Lorikeet and Asia Aviaries, Giraffe Feeding, Stingray Bay, Adventure Cove Sea Lion Deck, and Manatee Coast is the main role of the Seasonal Interpreter. Plan to work in a variety of these areas during each day in this position. Encourage our guests to connect with the animals in our care through stories, conversation and memorable experiences such as feeding a giraffe, touching a stingray, or getting up close to a kangaroo! We are looking for someone who is charismatic, good with people, proactive, works well both independently and in a team, and has a strong sense of responsibility.
