From breakfast, lunch and dinner to groups both large and small – casual and high end dining and catering for them all! – As a chef/cook at The Wilds there are a variety of shifts and guests you may be preparing food for. Our restaurant provides table service breakfast and dinner for our overnight lodging guests, supplies meals for our various education camps, and also assists in high volume catering for various groups and corporate outings.

You will help facilitate the daily operations of the Food & Beverage department.   This Conservation Education Lead will work with staff to provide quality education programs and excellent customer service to guests of The Wilds. This Lead will facilitate education opportunities for families, scout troops, campers, and a variety of other audiences. In addition, this Lead will assist with administrative tasks in the office. This includes assisting guests in the registration and reservation process, helping to maintain program records, and any additional office needs.   This is a 10-month position, 30-40 hours per week.

As a Wilds interpretive tour guide you will criss cross The Wilds pasture areas with guests amongst wild and endangered animal species. After picking up your safari vehicle for the day you will load your guests and interpret The Wilds animals, landscape, projects, and partnerships by fulfilling The Wilds mission of leading and inspiring by connecting people and wildlife.

Be the true face of The Wilds as a Shuttle Driver or Parking Attendant! In these positions you are the first to greet our guests and start them on their day of conservation and fun. Get them parked and oriented before dropping them off at the Johnson Visitor Center to begin their day.

    Work with the Director of Ecology to implement the American burying beetle (ABB) program at The Wilds. Main duties include daily beetle care, breeding, releases, trapping, outreach, and research. In addition, maintain records and organization of the Beetle Barn. 10-month seasonal position (February-November) working 5 days and up to 37 hours per week

This position will begin on 3/28/2024 and end on 5/23/2024. Conservation Educators teach programs for schools, youth groups, families and adults.  This position requires staff to work a flexible schedule, including working weekends and often times staying overnight at The Wilds.  All staff are required to drive a school bus during programs (training will be provided). On site housing is available (for nominal fee). Spring Educators may have the option to apply to stay on through the summer as WildeCamp Staff or KDFS/OWL Staff, and then as Fall Educator through October.  

  This position will be from 5/28/2024 to 8/7/2024. WildeCamp Counselors are educators and counselors for the summer camp program at The Wilds. WildeCamp is a residential camp experience for children ages 8-18. Counselors spend weeklong periods, of up to six days, living at the camp facility with the campers. During these camp sessions, counselors work as a team to care for campers. Daily routines include teaching educational lessons, leading outdoor activities (swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, etc.), and creating fun and memorable opportunities for every child.
